Dr. Pownell performs reconstructive plastic surgical procedures "on abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors, or disease. It is generally performed to improve function, but may also be done to approximate a normal appearance." Reconstructive procedures are usually covered by insurance carriers. At times, due to your carrier's specific policy, some procedures may not be considered reconstructive. After an evaluation by Dr. Pownell and his correspondence with your insurance company, this decision will be made. If your procedure is not covered by your carrier, Dr. Pownell's office will explain how financial arrangements can be made to schedule the procedure.
