Our Skin Matters Services are conducted under the supervision of Patrick H. Pownell, M.D., who is a board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Pownell has repeatedly been recognized as one of Texas Best Doctors by Texas Monthly and D Magazines.

The Aesthetic Director of Skin Matters, Bea Hunter, is a licensed cosmetologist and medical aesthetician, dedicated to serving the unique needs of every patient. She was also the Inaugural President of The Society of Plastic Surgical Skincare Specialists and continues to be an active member of the Society.

MICRODERMABRASION

AGERA® MicroPore Therapy™

This medical grade, non-surgical treatment is a gentle procedure that is safe and effective for all skin types.  The patented AGERA® MicroPore Therapy™ system allows the technician complete customization of the treatment, while giving the client ultimate results.  The technique creates MicroPores® in the skin, enhancing the penetration and effectiveness of bioactive products, to achieve unsurpassed results.  This procedure is effective for the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, scarring, pigmentation and texture changes.  It can be repeated on a monthly basis for continuing care.  Specific home care products will be recommended for maximum correction.  This service is performed on the face & neck.  Individual treatments and series packages are available.

Enhanced Microdermabrasion

A medical microdermabrasion treatment, as outlined above, followed by specific exfoliants and enhancers, which provide deeper, faster and more corrective results. This is especially beneficial to reduce photo damage, hyperpigmentation, and the signs of aging.  Minimal "down time" should be expected.  Specific home care products will be recommended for maximum correction. Mini-Microdermabrasion

This is a lighter version of our regular microdermabrasion that begins with an application of an exfoliation enhancer, which reduces superficial dead skin build-up for a bright, polished look.  For the face only.

Scar Reduction

Individualized medical microdermabrasion that smoothes and reduces the appearance of site specific scars from surgery or trauma, including acne scars. Multiple treatments may be necessary.A consultaion is required prior to treatment. Fees vary.

CHEMICAL EXFOLIATION

Micro Exfoliation

This light chemical exfoliation begins by preparing the skin with dermaplaning. Then, a gentle exfoliator, appropriate for your skin type is applied, followed by deep pore clensing extractions and rejuvenating mask. The treatment is finished by an application of Intensive MagC® Gel and Recovery Cream to enhance collagen production and soothe the skin. This procedure produces no down time and is safe and effective for every skin type. Individual treatments or series packages are available.

AGERA®Plus Peel System

This advanced peel system uses a controlled layering process, especially effective for treating sun damage, acne, scarring or hyperpigmentation. It can be used safely and effectively on every ethnic skin type.  The procedure is custom designed for the specific skin condition and produces little to no "down time".  Optimal results are achieved when incorporating the proper home care products for correction and maintenance.  Individual treatments or series packages are available.

PCA SKIN®

PCA Advanced Skin Care Systems offers a variety of professional treatments and services designed to improve and enhance the skin’s appearance. The treatments help reduce the depth of surface lines, smooth rough skin texture, treat skin discoloration and redness, and assist in clearing acne/blemished skin. The naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), retinol and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) found in PCA Professional™ Products loosen dead cells from the skin’s surface, revealing new, healthy cells. The result? Smooth, radiant, glowing skin.

Obagi Blue Peel®

This medium depth chemical peel provides maximum correction for aging, sun damage, fine lines,  and hyperpigmentation. The service requires the client to pre-treat with a cosmeceutical retinol OR Retin-A®, depending on skin type, for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the procedure.  The client who prepares for 7-10 days of "down time" will achieve superb results.  A mini Recovery Kit is included with the service.

The Hollywood Facial

Our Signature Treatment that begins with dermaplaning, a mechanical exfoliation technique which involves gently scraping away dead, dry skin.  It is followed by an application of an enzyme exfoliator or a Vitamin C treatment. This process stimulates cell regeneration and collagen production while it lightens, tightens and brightens the skin.  It is the perfect service before a special occasion!

Customized Facials

Traditional, European-style facials that offer exfoliation, deep pore cleansing, hydration, oxygen therapy and antioxidant protection.  Each service is customized to the individual's skin type and is suitable for men, women and teens.

Camouflage and Glamour Cosmetics

We use and recommend Jane Iredale Mineral® Makeup for glamour and camouflage services. Camouflage make-up techniques are taught and used to mask facial scarring, irregularities or post surgical trauma.
